I am 38 years old i am married to a man who is my dream maker or better yet my dream catcher. He lifts me up and alowes me to be me. We have two children our son is 19 and our daughter just turned 16. We have been through some pretty rough times, we found out that my husband is bi-polar and has social anxiety disorder, he can not go out of the house very much and that make it hard on him because he just wants to be normal, its also very hard because people will not educate themselve to Mental diseases, they will say stupid stuff like, "Just get out of the house and go work, or just go do something, that will snap you out of it" they do not realize that the Mentally ill brain doesn't function as everyone elses, you wouldn't tell a cancer patient to just go to work and forget about how much pain your in because of your kemo.. I think its harder for people to see the anguish a mentally ill person has because they "LOOK NORMAL" but they are not.. its sad but people need to research things before they talk about things.. Like for us to have a normal "family" time together we have to stay home and do things that normal people would think was weird.. like we get on the computer and play games or we get on the computers and type emails back and forth to each other, thats how this life is.. when you have someone affraid of people and someone new comes to the door, that affraid person always goes and runs and hides,. thats not normal for us, but its normal for them. its their coping mechanism that alowes them to handle a situation I hope people hear that when they read this, mentally ill people are just that mentally ill, they do not function as people want them to, they are different just like everyone is different.. the mental ill patient fights for their right to be seen as a person who isn't the same as you and me but that they also need their time to heal, and get their own minds focust on how to live.. God be with you all Paula
Hello my name is Paula and my husband and i are both on disability, we want to own our own home and be as close to normal as possible, we are in need of finding grants that will help us with down payments or even that will help us get a loan, something to help get us started in getting a place that will be disability appropriate and something that our children can grow up without having to worry if the roof will leak or the door will lock, or if there will be another flood in our basement and make the heat go out and the hot water tank... A place where we can call home. We need help in getting grants, finding grants, and writting grants, any information would be a blessing. God bless you all Paula
